Planning Meeting and Site Visits for Restoration Project among the Sengwer of Embobut.

A planning meeting was held in April at the Agriculture Office, bringing together key stakeholders to lay the foundation for the upcoming restoration project. During the meeting, officials were formally appointed to guide the implementation process. Elias Kimaiyo was entrusted with the role of Secretary for the team, responsible for coordination, documentation, and communication of project activities.

Following the meeting, the team conducted site visits to the identified locations, including a forest area and a nearby school where the restoration project will be launched. These visits provided an opportunity to assess the suitability of the sites, engage with local stakeholders, and align expectations on the project’s objectives, particularly in promoting environmental conservation and community involvement.

In preparation for upcoming activities, Mr. Elias Kimaiyo, a Steering Committee member representing SECBO, is scheduled to meet with the Environment Secretary tomorrow in Kapyego. The meeting aims to review and align plans for the 23rd celebrations of World Biodiversity Day, which will also mark the official launch of the Cherish Programme.

These initial steps reflect strong coordination among stakeholders and set a solid foundation for the successful implementation of the restoration initiative.
